A special fundraiser honouring
-Darcy Denis Clifford-
The first part before Beyond the Rainbow - a gift of comfort in our darkest hours.
On Monday, 3rd February 2025, our lives changed forever. Our beautiful son, Darcy Denis Clifford, was born at 7:21 pm and passed away peacefully at 7:27 pm. Though his time with us was heartbreakingly short, he left an everlasting mark on our hearts.
Darcy’s pregnancy had been progressing perfectly—his health, growth, and every scan showed no concerns. But on Sunday, 2nd February, I began experiencing cramps and bleeding and as much as I wanted to believe it was nothing, I knew something wasn’t right. We followed our midwife’s advice and headed to the hospital. The doctors found Darcy’s heartbeat strong and steady, but my cervix was already opening, and the amniotic sac had started to push through. Despite their best efforts—medications to stop contractions, positioning techniques to relieve pressure—my waters broke, and labour became inevitable. We were faced with the devastating reality that our baby would be born far too soon to survive. It was our niece Sage’s 2nd birthday, we wished with all our might he wouldn’t make an entrance into the world on her birthday. The clock ticked over midnight and a new day was here.
The next 24 hours were filled with pain, heartbreak, and moments of love we will cherish forever. At 7:21 pm, we held our beautiful boy as he entered the world. And at 7:27 pm, we held him as he took his last breath.
After extensive testing, we learned that I had developed an infection in my placenta, which triggered preterm labour. My body was fighting to protect me, but in doing so, we lost our precious Darcy.
Beyond the Rainbow – A Gift of Comfort in Our Darkest Hours
During our hospital stay, we received a Beyond the Rainbow care box—a small but deeply meaningful gesture that provided comfort when we needed it most. These care boxes offer support to families facing unimaginable loss, helping them navigate their grief with kindness and understanding.
To honour Darcy’s memory, we are hosting Darcy’s Memorial Day, raising funds for Beyond the Rainbow so they can continue providing care boxes to other grieving families.
We would be so grateful for any donation, big or small, to help us give back to this incredible organisation. Your support means everything to us, and it ensures that other families facing loss receive the same kindness and comfort we did.
Thank you for helping us keep Darcy’s memory alive and for supporting families walking this heartbreaking path.
With love,
Shenaye & Scott
