Maddi’s Testimony -

“My husband and I received a care box in October 2024, when our daughter passed away after just 24 hours.

After she had passed, we were sitting in a room with this big box that we had never seen or heard of before.
We were in this weird space, feeling numb and empty, where we hadn’t quite processed what just happened and had no idea what to do with ourselves.

Our empty hands needed something to do, as just 2 minutes before they were holding our daughter. We were able to look at all the beautiful things inside the box and sit in the moment.
We felt at peace looking at the beautiful items instead of hospital papers and I feel like it gave Lucinda some dignity. She was our baby, not a hospital condition written in a pamphlet.

I remember opening the box and seeing how well set out it was. What first caught my eye was the macrame rainbow and I knew I’d be hanging that on our wall forever.
In the days that passed, we kept revisiting the box and looking through the resources and all the pieces inside. I needed something to keep my mind and my hands busy.

Not only were the items beautiful, but they were helpful too. Books, pamphlets and information about how to navigate what just happened.
Our 4 year old daughter also received a sibling pack with a book and a stuffed llama in it. Some grief books for kids are worded strangely and we found that other books didn’t talk so much about siblings, it was more about a grandparent.

The sibling above book was beautifully written and made it easier for us to explain what had happened to her little sister. She also loves her llama and tells people that it’s Lucies llama.
